Shuwaiman Al Kebir
One of twin colts born 23 April 2007
By Krayaan Dilmun out of Shuwaimeh Bint Warda. Bred by Jenny Lees.
Shuwaiman Al Kebir (known as George around the stableyard) is the larger of twin colt foals born this spring. He was the first of the babies to arrive and was a big colt thus giving no hint that there had been any room for another inside his mother! He is the son of a Shuwaimeh mare so as tradition dictates he takes his dams name. "Shuwaiman" is the masculine of the Arabian horse family of "Shuwaimeh" and Al Kebir translates to "the big one". Self explanatory when you look at the photos of him next to his brother.
Due to George's size and boisterousness we had to make a decision to leave Shuwaimeh Bint Warda to rear her larger son whilst Amanda and I helped with the feeding and rearing of the smaller twin Shuwaiman Al Saghir. Al Saghir translates of course to "the small one".
Although Shuwaiman Al Saghir (Harry) is trying to catch his older brother up, Shuwaiman Al Kebir (George) always seems to be a few hands ahead of him !
You can read the full story of the twin's arrival here.
It is our plan, God willing, to raise the brothers together so that they can go out side by side to participate in Endurance/Long Distance rides. Possibly the only twin Endurance stallions in the world.
